The Namibia ReThink Waste GreenCycle Expo has been nominated for an EIF Sustainable Development Award.

The award nomination presents GreenCycle as a youth-led national circular-economy platform co-founded by two young Namibian women under 35. The submission highlights the platform's work to connect policy, innovation, investment, youth entrepreneurship and practical waste-to-value solutions.

According to the nomination submission, the inaugural Expo brought together more than 550 attendees, 29 exhibitors and representatives from six government ministries. It also highlights policy dialogue around Extended Producer Responsibility, public-private collaboration, mentorship for youth-led enterprises and measurable post-event momentum around circular-economy action.

The nomination further points to the Expo's 2026 expansion to Swakopmund under the theme “Proof of Impact: Scaling Circular Solutions for a Climate-Resilient Namibia.” The next edition is intended to deepen the SME Growth Track, climate-resilience programming, green finance and investment preparation.

The nomination is an important recognition of the organising team's objective: to demonstrate that circular economy is not only an environmental response, but also an economic-development, climate-resilience and green-jobs opportunity for Namibia.
